This book grew on me slowly and then I was hooked and couldn't put it down. What a simple but enchanting story of two girls, living in same city but at the same time have somehow different lives. Both are born into traditional worker families in Naples where tradition speaks first. One of the is smarter but the other one has more luck with not being forced into what was common those days for girls.

It hurts to not have loved this book as much as I wish I did. All my girlfriends did. But I just cod not get into it.
