I am not a math lover - but I loved nearly everything in this book (Including the math, nerdy appendix).
Here's what I've come to love about John Green. He makes nerd look AMAZINGLY COOL. And I have to give him props for that. He also makes the most amazing heroes out of kids that.. well, they aren't exactly easy hero material.
An Abundance of Katherines is about Colin, a boy prodigy who dates only girls named Katherine, loves anagrams, and is pretty scared of not becoming a genius ... kinda. Basi ...more

Another super good read by John Green. I do have to admit that I wish I'd read this book (and some of his other ones) before I'd read Looking For Alaska and The Fault In Our Stars, but it only makes me think that John Green just gets better as he writes more and I cannot wait to see what he does next.

I'm struggling with this rating. as is typical with John Green, the charatcters and relationships are fantastic. but i wasn't super excited about the story itself. it was satisfying for sure, but not a story that I just had to read rather than, say, watching tv.

This is such a great book! I really seriously loved it. It made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion, which books almost never make me do. Also, there are funny footnotes, which I love.
But more than anything, the characters are just so likable. I don't think I've read a book where I liked the characters so much since The President's Daughter series. This book isn't quite on that scale for me, but still. Colin and Hassan are such a great duo. And Lindsey is awesome, which I love because th ...more

hassan cracks me up and colin's anagramming is totally awesome.
but i think the fact that there is ACTUAL math in there wins the prize. not to mention that colin realizes you can't predict the future, that you can't graph what hasn't happened yet. (i also love the predicament of katherine III). it's smart, witty, funny - i kind of totally adored it. it still only gets four stars for being a little much, but otherwise. the footnotes were pretty stellar.

John Green is definitely becoming one of my favorite YA authors. The characters are funny, the plot is intriguing and makes you think about relationships in a different way and I loved his added footnotes throughout the book. If you liked Looking for Alaska, I'm sure you would love this one too!

I think I would have liked this better if I wasn't constantly comparing it to all of John Green's other books. As a standalone YA novel, it's pretty good. In comparison to say, The Fault In Our Stars, it ain't great. I'm just spoiled.
