I haven't read/listened to many Autobiography books so I might not be the best person to review or rate this book, but I do . It was funny but not completely enjoyable and that was a disappointment for me as this was GoodReads choice on Humors of 2015, good thing it had enough pull that I didn't drop it and other than first quarter enjoyed it more or less.

Liked this more than her first one! Maybe just because it focuses on a different time in her life, it felt more mature and self aware (read:enjoyably self-deprecating, at times). Plus it was funny as hell, of course.
Favorite essays were the last one, on why it's OK to be a workaholic, and the tell-all about doing onscreen love scenes, ha.

I would like Mindy Kaling to be an audiobook reader generally, not just for her own books.
This was great, though it felt impossibly short (4 discs!?!) and I wanted more. I honestly can't remember her first book except that I liked it, which is maybe a terrible thing to say, and I don't know that I'll remember a lot of specifics from this. But it's the general takeaways, plus just the pleasant experience, that makes this book worth spending your time on. ...more

This book was quick and fairly enjoyable, but it started to annoy me at some point. The author imagines herself as a NYC teacher, and we get the story in the world's most annoying format for an audiobook at least: emails. She not only reads the time stamp, but also the signature. As if email signatures of Kelly Clarkson songs weren't annoying enough.... I was kinda glad that the last track of this was messed up and didn't play.

I enjoyed Mindy Kaling's second book. The mixture of funny stories, confessions, and alternate personalities was entertaining. It felt like an honest conversation with an old friend over coffee.

NOTE: I listened to this book on audio
I liked this more than I liked her first book. I found her more endearing for some reason this time. But it's still not GREAT. Better than Amy Poehler, but not as good as Tina Fey. ...more
