Just because I'm now watching the Netflix show, I think I need to re-read this :)

I describe this book as one of the best real Sci-Fi books written in recent years. In the deep silence of midnight, the universe revealed itself to its listeners as a vast desolation.
So, first of all, this book was AMAZING. Everything seems so normal, and then it's not normal, not normal at all. Liu created a small (teeny tiny) perturbation in China's history and from that blossomed this entirely different possibility of our present. Rating: I really have no idea how to rate this one, (and not in a good way) so I'm going to say, meh/meh dimensions of a proton.
Format: Softcover/audiobook. I actually read about half of the softcover, set it aside for a few months, then finished it via audiobook just to finish it.
What it's like: It reminded me a little of Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake - MaddAdam series. These are sort of weird books, set in a apocalyptic future where not a lot is explained but it's almost more about the atmo ...more

As promised, writing is forgettable, story engaging. Props to the audiobook reader, who does a great job giving personalities to the voices of otherwise fairly interchangeable background characters.
