Please forget about the movie, for a moment. The movie was great, I'm not arguing that. In fact, the first two movies were great- though both of them were actually this book (part one, part two).
If you can let go of your childhood memories, you will appreciate this for what it is- surreal, fantastical, philosophical, and possibly one of the best books I've ever read. I really enjoyed this and in fact, should reread it. I had always been a lover of the movie and was surprised to find out it was a book first. Really enjoyable!
