I picked this book, having seen it everywhere, in the Stockholm airport on a business trip. I thought I would get some Scandinavian reading for my trip to Scandinavia. And I was immediately hooked - the beginning chapters of the book, up through perhaps half of it, were laugh-out-loud funny, and I enjoyed picking up a lighthearted book, which is not something I do often and wish there were more high-quality ones to pick up. And overall, the book continued to be an entertaining read. But somewher ...more

While there may be a Forrest Gump quality as some of the reviews I read mentioned, it is only in the protagonist's inclusion and impact on historica

I really enjoyed this story, about a fairly ordinary man who has extraordinary experiences (hence, the Forrest Gump comparisons). themes include making judgements (like what could an old geezer possibly be capable of, how dumb could someone named Einstein possibly be, etc) and you might consider what really caused some of the geopolitical events of the last century or so.

Witty, interesting, and well written. Glad I saw a positive review on this from a friend and gave it a try.
