"The Couple Next Door" deserves 3 1/2 stars, but Goodreads makes us go to full stars.
Easy read. Page turner. Gave away a fair amount without the reader putting the pieces together, but also had a half dozen true surprises. I did not like the last two pages or so, as I felt it was a unnecessary add to a story that already felt settled.

The ending. WTF????????
I do wish Goodread allowed us to give 1/2 stars, this would be 3 1/2.
Some thrillers are great, quick, fast reads, you just dont want to put the book down. others are good, you read the book, however you can put it down and return to it easily.
This book is the second type. Someone took their baby while they were at the party next door. Sitter cancels, and they check in every half hour on the baby. Who took her? Is she alive or dead? will this be another JonBenet Ramsay story where we never know?

Alright this book was fun until the author took it a little too far at the end. The first twist was surprising and fit well, the Las twist was overkill in my opinion. The book is definitely an easy read and perfect for the beach. I gave it two stars because of the ending. It reminded me too much of one of those b horror movies that just has to do too much until the very end!
This kept me interested and guessing (I'm not the type who tries to figure it out before the author reveals), so I guess it was enjoyable. It had twists and turns. None of the characters is particularly likeable, which is problematic but also part of the reason it works.

Quite a ride and certainly as entertaining as a TV show. And only marginally about the couple next door.
Page turner with many twists! Disappointing ending.
I wish I had read this when it came out because I wouldn't have suspected as much back then before I was a seasoned domestic thriller reader.
That being said, this book is great and super entertaining. Shari Lapena is great with emotional descriptions and I honestly felt my stomach drop on behalf of the characters multiple times. I enjoyed everything about this book and it was a perfect book for my quarantine readathon.
