I listened to the audiobook, and I'm so glad I did. Aside from just loving Trevor Noah's voice, I especially loved when he spoke different languages--I definitely wouldn't have appreciated them as much on the written page. And, strangely, hearing his intonation was helpful in navigating the mix of comedy and tragedy throughout.

What a great memoir this is-- not a genre I visit too often, but this book was a treat.

What a fantastic book. I don't know if Trevor Noah wrote it himself but it definitely reads in his voice. It's a roller coaster of a read. It has moments that were laugh-out-loud funny, heartbreaking, eye-opening, shocking, and educational. Previously in the 2019 PopSugar Reading Challenge:

When I told people I was reading this, I frequently heard, "yeah, but I don't really like his comedy."

This is NOT a comedy. Yeah, it's funny and there were moments when Trevor's mischievous antics had me laughing out loud, but this is a story about being mixed race during Apartheid.

This is a fantastic memoir, and everyone should read it.
