Holy smokes. This might be one of my favorite books. I need to sit with it for a bit, but I'm in love with pretty much everything: the characters, the dramatic time/location changes, that so much is symmetrical without being trite or obvious. Even the books layout was fascinating to me, and a brilliant way to give the story interesting breadth and momentum all along.

I am in love with Chloe Benjamin’s writing. I plan to buy her other book The Anatomy of Dreams as soon as possible. I hope to read many more of her books in the future. I really hope she continues writing. I really believe this book should be a Pulitzer winner. Oh my goodness, what a concept, to know the date of your death. How would you live if you knew when you would die? Such an interesting question, and the author explored it through four characters that felt so so real.

This hooked me in from the very beginning. Simon's story, the first, is definitely the best, but honestly they're all pretty great. The only negative for me were the scenes in Varya's part of the book, that take place in an animal research lab. Very upsetting for animal lovers, so be warned!
