Initially, I was put off by the homespun title, but I really enjoyed this book. It's a quick read told in letters between a 30ish single writer living in London, her publisher, best friend, and a series of Guernsey islanders with whom she's randomly begun a correspondence. Topics mostly deal with returning to a kind of normal after the second world war and telling the story of Guernsey's occupation. ...more

I really liked this book and was quite sad for it to end. Although the book was fiction, it really got me thinking about WWII and how little I know about it. I don't know if any of the book was based on actually facts, but I can't imagine that life on a small island during that time could have been very easy. ...more

Interesting read. It is written as a series of Letters from Guernsey to London between an Author to her friend, her publisher and an oddity of characters, so you only catch snippets of conversation but enough to get a good story. Quite entertaining!

Adorable. It's just a really cute story. It's well written, and formatted in all letters. It's very compelling.

It's apparently being made into a movie. I cannot wait to see it.

Loved every minute of this book! Definitely one of my recent top 10s. I fell in love with the characters and was completely fascinated by the story-telling through letters. I want to do it all over again.

I really loved this book! a very interesting way to develop a story, though letters to and from the main character, Juliet, with a predictable ending, but with a twist. I was engrossed all day in this book (I love vacations!) and really enjoyed reading it! highly recommended for a good beach/plane ride read!

P.G. Wodehouse meets 84 Charing Cross Road. A very predictable (I knew the outcome ten pages into the book) but delightfully uplifting read. I loved it!
