I would give 4.5 stars if I could. One of my favorite things about this book was that one of the narrators was a giant pacific octopus! I found the main characters relatable and found myself rooting for them. I will definitely seek out more books by this author.

This one has me up too late on a school night; I was so into the story by the second half! I loved every character, but especially the star, Marcellus. It was a slow starting book, but really enjoyable, with so many themes for thought or discussion: aging, community, growing up, loss, grief, moving on, the family we choose, hoarding, and on.... A great one for a book club

Yikes- what was all the hype about? We already had The Shape of Water. It was confusing to have separate stories you couldn’t see how they connected for quite a while. I do like the idea of an octopus roaming the aquarium at night in search of great food.

“Humans. For the most part, you are dull and blundering. But occasionally, you can be remarkably bright creatures.”

What a lovely book. Hank and Marcellus are my favorite fictional octopuses.
