Destiny and fate are terms easily thrown at readers to describe the connection that two characters may have. Oftentimes, the connections formed between characters come across more rushed than fated. I – for one – am many times a little skeptical about characters falling in love in a matter of a few dozen pages. Amazing contemporary debut from Brandy L. Rivers! I love her paranormal stuff, but my heart always belongs to contemporary first. This story was amazing, following Mila and Kyle as they fall in love and face so many struggles and revelations. I sincerely hope Rivers decides to write more in the genre.

I am biased & love Brandy L Rivers Paranormal stories, but I was so surprised to read a contemporary romance from her in Heart On Fire.
This is the story of Mila Day, a school teacher who for one night wants to be someone else & escape the reality of her life.
At a Halloween Costume party she goes as “The Devil” & meets “The Phantom Of The Opera” & they share an amazing night together, No Names, No Strings.

This is Rivers' first foray into the Contemporary Romance space, and this story is on par with her Paranormal Romance books. I loved that while you knew where the story was going (intentionally, the author telegraphs it for readers), the reveal is still so satisfying. There are also a few small unexpected twists near the end that added additional layers to the story of Mila and Kyle. Heart on Fire, is an amazing read.
From the start up to the last, I was hooked.
The characters and the story are amazing.

The characters, Kyle and Mila are great.
Mila, an amazing woman with a good heart.
Despite the things that happened to her in the past, she won’t let it stop her from dong what she wants.
Kyle, a hunky firefighter.
He’s sweet and understanding. I love his personality.

I love Brandy more with each book I read.

Mila was hurt and looking to have one wild uninhibited night of fun to get over it before she moved on. Her heart was trashed and she swore off love.

Six years later her sexy neighbor seems to be the one to put her heart back together. Will he accept her daughter as part of the package or will he break her heart again.

I love this concept is sweet and refreshing. Depth in the characters makes this a real page turner. I couldn’t put it down.

I received this book from the Dauntless Indies group in exchange for an honest review. I liked the main characters of Mila and Kyle and thought their story was sweet and while not completely unpredictable it still kept me interested in reading more about them. There are some pretty steamy moments as well as some gooey sweet ones which I always enjoy a nice mix of both.
