Such a great read.
Yes it's darker than Brooke's usual book but I loved it.
Elena starts out with a verbally abusive ass for a husband.
One who trades her when he can't pay his gambling debt.
Ashton may be a loan shark but he can't tolerate the way Dominic treats his wife.
No, he doesn't force anything, and tells her right from the get go if she winds up in his bed it's because she wants to be there.

Elena has a crappy life. Her husband treats her badly, but she see's it as, not being a good wife and he must correct her. Then Dominic trades her with his loan shark, Ashton. Take her, use her, abuse her, whatever you want for the next 3 months. What Elena and Dominic don't bargain for is when Ashton falls in love with her. She is a caterpillar who emerges as a butterfly by the end of the book with Ashton's love, support, and strength.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Note: This story does have moments of severe verbal abuse. This was a concern for myself as I do not care for abusive stories. I gave this a try and and have no regrets!
This is a story about Elena. She is married to a horrible man who has her so brainwashed that she believes that being a wife is being a slave. Her husband is so far in debt that he has the bright idea to trade her for his debt. This is where Elena meets Ashton. Ashton is the ...more

Traded is fast paced, heart-wrenching and very different from anything I've read so far this year. This was an absolute page turner. Rebecca Brooke is an amazing writer and she really made you feel every emotion that Elena felt.I love that Rebecca brought awareness to verbal abuse and through her writing showed that everyone deserves to not only be happy but to also be able to follow their dreams. That nothing that anyone says can hold you back from being all that you want to be as long ...more

I found this to be a difficult read, as at times it was a little too close for comfort. However I persevered for Elena’s sake.
Her husband is a vile & abusive man and he traded her to cover a debt to Ashton. Ashton sees the abuse & sets out to help Elena, and they end up falling for each other.
I didn’t really like this story, but I was able to appreciate the way it was written (hence the 4 stars)
