If you want to pad your yearly book list with a bona fide classic but don’t want to commit to something long and challenging, Tom Sawyer is a solid choice. I had a copy on my shelf and I hadn’t read it, so it seemed like an obvious choice. And, honestly, it’s fine - pretty good.
