I chose to reread The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn because I like the author's prose and humor. Having recently reread The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, I thought why not reread this too. I found that I prefer Tom Sawyer over this. Huck's story reads more strongly as a plot-oriented, exciting adventure story, even if both are classified as such. Reading this now as an adult, I am not as captivated as I was as a child by adventure stories.

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (or, in more recent editions, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn) is a novel by Mark Twain, first published in the United Kingdom in December 1884 and in the United States in February 1885. Even though I'm a sucker for unreliable characters, I didn't love this as much as I thought I might. I'm a fan of Twain so I did like it, but not as much as I thought.

It was hard to read the racial slurs. Twain certainly embodied that aspect of the era in this book.

Twain's colloquialisms and dialect are amazing and spot-on. I doubt there will be another like him.
