A classic by the incomparable Mark Twain. Tom Canty is a poor abused lad born on the same day as Prince Edward. The two trade places and spend time in the other's lives. Prince Edward is out in the world discovering how rough it really is. Tom is in the palace believed to be crazy.

The story and plot were great but I must admit that the language used was a little hard to follow at times. I was already familiar with the story due to the fact it IS a classic. I have memories of seeing a movie based

The Prince and the Pauper is a novel by American author Mark Twain. It was first published in 1881 in Canada, before its 1882 publication in the United States. The novel represents Twain's first attempt at historical fiction. Set in 1537, it tells the story of two young boys who are identical in appearance: Tom Canty, a pauper who lives with his abusive father in Offal Court off Pudding Lane in London, and Prince Edward, son of King Henry VIII. ...more
