This is a love story, a sad love story, and it is beautifully told. Exquisitely told.

The writing, particularly depictions of nature and feelings and thoughts, are lyrically expressed. Do lines such as these appeal to you?

This book is being discussed at Boxall's 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die .

An amazing book and even progressive book written by one of the Bronte sisters telling the story of Helen Graham, the new tenant of Wildfell Hall and Gilbert Markham, her neighbor who is intrigued by her past.

Even if the story is told through letters, Bronte managed to keep the reader's full attention, in my opinion.

3.5 stars really. I liked the writing, and I can see how the subject matter certainly would have shocked people at the time it was published. I definitely saw the influence of Charlotte in this book.
My reason for not giving it a full 4 star sis that I felt that the middle portion of the book was too long.

Up until this year I have failed to read any books by the Bronte sisters, and when I picked up Wuthering Heights I was blown away by the complex, intricate and beautiful story. It was not a romance novel, but so much more. It was a book that I loved and I was anxious to read more by the sisters. This one is my second Bronte read and unfortunately it did not enchant me.
