The unforgettable tale of the Scarlet Pimpernel wrote by this magnificent author. Many other authors tried to wrote the same story by just adding some more romantic figures into the plot, without any success as the original story.

For some reason I thought this was a pirate book. No idea why. I was expecting ships and sword fights at sea. Ha ha.
It's almost impossible to talk about the storyline and not give away some of it's surprises - so I won't. What I will talk about is Orczy's writing.
If you are an author looking to read a fine example of character portrayal, then I recommend reading The Scarlet Pimpernel. Orczy paints even the smallest side character as clear as a bell. The barmaid, Jellyband, and Brogard appeared ...more
