Shelves: classics, young-adult, 1001-books, historical-fiction

I have never read many of the classics in literature and so in 2017 I am attempting to remedy that. Reading Stevenson's tale made me realize that I have missed out on much. This was an excellent listen. It is at once a picturesque travelogue of Scotland, an informative piece of historical fiction, a rollicking adventure story, a tale of friendship and a very silly comedy. Luckily my brain can multitask.

Well - I had a tough time getting through this one. I've read other Robert Louis Stevenson books and enjoyed them but this one - not so much.

This story was about a guy who is kidnapped... but most of the story is about him wandering through Scotland, getting sick over and over, being chased by the law, trying to find his way home, etc...

I love the classics but just not this one. ...more
