I'm on a roll with this theme... maybe I need to listen. Anita Bruckner's novel, "Look at Me" and Kazuo Ishiguro's "Remains of the Day" both deal with protagonists who are caught in brittle self-identification that ultimately becomes shattered. This is a beautiful little play that expresses that theme perfectly. The play definitely has a mid-century feel to it, but the glass menagerie is universal.
