On completion: I liked this very much. I enjoy Hemingway’s succinct prose. In all its simplicity you are free to fill in all the hidden thoughts. So much more is said than the few simple words. I find the language perfect for the characters, the time period and the circumstances. Others dislike how sometimes the language used is repetitive. I don’t mind this at all. I am finding it difficult to review or comment on this book. First of all, it is Hemingway and I feel woefully ill-equipped to comment or pass any kind of judgment on him or his writing. That being said, I was not impressed with the writing or the story line in this book. This is not my first or my last Hemingway. I loved The Sun Also Rises and some of his short stories.

I liked "The Sun Also Rises" a lot more. I know this is a classic and all but I just did not care for it that much.
