Writing a review of this book at age 60, in 2023, is much more difficult than it would have been when I was 12. However, this is the first book in which I saw myself. Awkward. Overly focused on growing up. Insecure. Loyal. Silly. A GIRL... Nothing else I ever read tackled my worry that I would never get my period or grow breasts. I read this in about 30 minutes at Barnes&Noble.

I may have liked this at a younger age, but this isn't one of Judy Blume's best books. Something about it rubbed me the wrong way - it's probably because I didn't have any desire to get my period. ;)
