What Members Thought

Time for a reread? Yes, read again in March 2019.
This story made me happy. It left me in peace. This is reason enough to read the story.
I have read a lot of books about the intelligence of animals since I first read this. With all this information packed in my head, would I judge the book to be believable? Yeah, why not?!
This is my favorite by Jack London. It pulled my heartstrings. I want to believe it could be true.
The audiobook I listened to is read by Jeff Daniels. He speaks clearly, doesn’t ...more

A children's classic about a dog, Buck, taken from his comfortable home and forced into working in a harsh new environment. I read this as a child and loved it. I would definitely recommend this to school age children.

Summer 2018, audiobook:
I wanted to like this book so much more than I ever did. I think it had something to do with the fact the overarching plot/string tying everything together really was only Buck becoming a wild wolf like his ancestors, rather than their really being in truly notable ups and downs to attract my attention in it.
This is, also, the first audiobook I started listening to on x1.5 speed, which made me go back to listening to this book after I'd started it, given it up for 2 more ...more
