I just finished this and the ending is very, very cute. It bowls you over to such an extent that it feels necessary to calm down and think clearly. I love the ending because it is sweet and definitely overdone and exaggerated and sentimental. You see, because the ending is so sweet and because the earlier sections have been so heartrending, you do not want to think logically. It is nice to just let your heart overflow with happiness. There is even a touch of humor thrown in at the end.

I wish this were not my first review of 2018 ... I would love to have read my new favorite book and have a resounding 5 star rating to start the new year. But, it isn't so. I had never read Jack London and was in for a real surprise when I picked this book up free on my Kindle. I've always been intrigued by the man and dog relationship and White Fang was wonderful at showing the reason that this interdependence has evolved to what it is. The story is and should be a classic and can be read by all ages. Loved it! ...more

Life lives on life.

I read this after reminiscing about how much I loved The Call of the Wild as a child and upon the recommendation of Lady D. I liked it but I found this type of literature really hasn't stood the test of time for me. I got a little bored with the struggle to survive. Still I'm glad I read it. ...more
