I went into this book without reading any of the reviews, so I was pleasantly surprised what a wonderfully funny book this is.
Flora Poste is a well educated nineteen year old orphan, who has decided that she doesn't want to work. She wants to live with her relatives, and the only family that would take her were the Starkadders of Cold Comfort Farm, Howling, Sussex.
Ah, the satire, for this novel has everything that a Victorian novel has, including a mad woman in the attic. ...more
