I thought this was really good - particularly the first 80%. I'm not in love with the way that they solved the case - (view spoiler) - because it just felt very contrived, unlike the rest of the book, which felt incredibly authentic.

Saturday Drama - BBC Radio 4:

This first book in the Martin Beck series is apparently the book that inspired all those great Scandinavian mysteries. I liked it a lot but wasn't taken in by Martin himself. Think I will need to read another book in the series before committing myself.
