A solid fantasy book with magic and the coming of age of a proud wizard into a humble master.

Her spare language, and precise, almost historical style are not for everyone. This novel appears to be a young-adult coming-of-age fantasy story, and yet it does not hover on the main character's motivations and growth, almost seems to barely care about them at all. Instead, we see beauty, concepts, and adventure through the lens of a master of language and metaphor. A bit of Siddhartha going on, but didactic only upon reflection. This book is a poem.

One of the best books I've ever read.
