Just finished the audio version of this 1959 classic. If you liked the film, you WILL like the book- in fact, they are so similar, it's as if Hitchcock just used the novel as a screenplay! The only differences being: the book doesn't feature a section of the story devoted to Mary (Marion, in the film)'s POV. It's allllll Norman here. And Mother. Also, the character of Sam is a bit of a weenie, with Mary's sister being the one who 'takes charge' after Mary goes missing. The author did a great job ...more

Why is it that it is much easier to write a review if the book is bad? Why is it that it is much easier to criticise than to praise? Is it because it's easier to tear something down than to build something up?

Anyway, I loved Psycho. Now I just have to put into words why I loved it.

Firstly I found the story interesting. I wanted to know what happened. Bloch plotted it well.
Secondly I bought into the psychology of the book.
Thirdly it had the ability to surprise me all the while I thought: "Ah... o ...more
