L'assassinio di mia zia, narra le vicende di Edward Powell, intrappolato nella morsa asfissiante della zia Mildred e sulla sua minuziosa pianificazione dell'omicidio della zia stessa.
Tuttavia, il ritmo narrativo risulta piuttosto lento e piatto e a volte noioso.
La vera svolta arriva solo nel finale: questo colpo di coda, pur efficace, non riesce però a risollevare del tutto il romanzo, che rimane penalizzato da una narrazione poco coinvolgente per la maggior parte del suo svolgimento.
