The Surgeon is a brilliantly-crafted tale of horror that's just so terrifying that you can't bear not to look. Seriously.

This time is actually the second time that I had read The Surgeon. The first time I had read it I found it to be a thrilling read. This time I reread it because it was chosen as the book of the month for my mystery book club and wanted to refresh my memory. Gerritsen does a great job at building a suspenseful tale that is both chilling and dark. Some of the descriptions were very graphic, and the book has a very disturbed individual as the villain so this book is not for the faint of heart. Howe

I really enjoyed this book. The only reason it took me so long to finish it is that I had to return it to the library, and then had to be put back on the wait list for it. It was hard to put down once I started reading it. I loved the characters, and how they grew even in just one book. I can't wait to read the next one.
