An improbably scenario: the main focus is a young woman who has survived an apocalyptic plague and now travels with a group of itinerant performers through the post-plague landscape, remembering things past. Non-linear and intertwining narratives take us from the present to the future, into the past and then back again. Elegaic and meditative in tone -- a measured and rich read.
