Mind blowing.

That is what this book was.

Completely, utterly MIND BLOWING.

There were twists I couldn't even fathom, and that's saying something because I'm almost always spot on when it comes to plots. Just.... Everything about this book was intense and gritty and raw and I felt like it truly captured that panic and fear of being alone, fighting for your life.

The characters were brilliant. Cassie is a fantastic female lead, showing how she could be a girl and yet hard and tough, never letting Mind blowing.

That is what this book was.

The characters were brilliant. Cassie is a fantastic female lead, showing how she could be a girl and yet hard and tough, never letting go without a fight. The one thing that I was hoping for happened, when it came to Cassie and her brother. If I could pick one thing to go right in the book, it would have been their ending. Her love for her brother, her determination to save him, drove me to teary eyes. Along with her loss that slapped the reader right in the face. Everything about this book, the loss, the anger, the fear, the vengeance, everything, was so completely real. Humanity is real. I don't know HOW Rick did it, but he did. He nailed it. And I love him for it.

Ben and Evan were both favorites. Can I just say MY MIND WAS BLOWN when it came to Evan. Just... It came and hit me from behind and I did not even see it coming by the time that I realized what was happening. Ben is a fantastic character, I think really hitting the points if it ever came to a teenager thrown into a situation like that, and holding on to something, anything to keep you fighting. Unfortunately, if there was a second thing that I wanted to go right in the end, it would have been to see Evan and Cassie together, and I was incredibly disappointed we didn't really know what happened to him. He's a really great character all around, with the twist of his character along with his part in the romance department. Also, do I smell a love triangle in the future? Or square maybe? I kind of hope not, just because I truly love Evan and I think Cassie does also. I need to see them together again in the future. Their, his, love story was well written. Not over the top, not the main point, but a big enough element to change things for Cassie, and in turn, the reader.

I can't wait for the next installment, to see Evan again and what the rest of the characters are up to the future. I have to admit, I'm a little nervous. I know this book just came out, so it's going to be awhile until we see another one. But I'm going to be waiting in line for the next one.

An incredible apocalyptic tale that truly captures- and questions- what it is to be humanity. Highly recommend it for anyone who loves twists, turns and a thrill of a ride. ...more

“Go inside, Cassie,” he said gently. “Sammy needs you more than she does.”
I went inside. Sammy was sitting on the floor in his room, playing with his X-wing starfighter, destroying the Death Star. “Shroooooom, shroooooom. I’m going in, Red One!”
And outside, my father knelt in the freshly turned earth. Brown dirt, red rose, gray sky, white sheet.

DNF at 50 Pages.

When I heard about this book I had no idea that it was about aliens. I am not interested in aliens at all but you know I tried. I thought the beginning was interesting with the different waves of how the aliens took over and everything but as soon as it changed what the main character was doing I was completely disinterested.

She wasn't interesting, what she was doing wasn't interesting nothing kept my interest.

I thought that I would pick this book back up after the movie came

I can't believe it. How long do I have to wait for the next one? How could he end it there?!?!?!?! At first I didn't like the way the book was laid out, but it worked in the end. It was also predictable and yet not predictable. Everyone needs to read this book. ...more

This is honestly so good and exciting. Throughout the whole book I was completely entranced by where the plot was leading me, especially with such a kick ass heroine.
