I was really excited when I got this because I don't have an e-reader and desperately wanted to read these novellas.
No Place Like Oz
I really enjoyed getting the backstory of how Dorothy got back to Oz and came into power. When reading Dorothy Must Die I kept asking myself "but how did she end up back in Oz?!" so I liked hearing about how the whole thing happened. I found myself really feeling bad for Dorothy in the beginning and I was like dammit Deanna don't because she's evil.. I didn't really I was really excited when I got this because I don't have an e-reader and desperately wanted to read these novellas.

I didn't really like that Uncle Henry and Aunt Em ended up in Oz too though because the out come made me very sad.

The Witch Must Burn
I love Jellia. She is one of my favourite characters. I just think that she's adorable. I was curious of her in Dorothy Must Die so when I started reading this story and it was in her point of view, I was excited to get some answers about her. I really enjoyed this story although I found that things got a little bit slow when she traveled to Glinda's castle (which I thought was amazing because EVERYTHING WAS PINK!!) but it quickly picked back up. Overall I really hoped that things would turn out really great for Jellia because with her having to face that scary magic sucker machine, homegirl deserves it.

The Wizard Returns
I'm not really sure you can call this a "return" considering that he physically never left. I suspected there was something odd going on with the Wizard considering that everyone kept saying there was a rumour that he never left Oz. I didn't really care much for this story. It was kinda annoying how Pete wouldn't just tell him who he was and stuff and was being all odd and cryptic and why not just take him straight to the fairies (who I hated, they were rude). I guess it was interesting and maybe it'll add more insight to The Wicked Will Rise once I read that. I dunno.

Overall, it was very enjoyable. I'm glad that they released this as a compilation. I feel like it really adds to the whole experience of the Dorothy Must Die series because Oz is just a large world with so many characters that having everyone's backstories and perspectives in so many few books is hard so I'm really happy these exist. If you loved the first book, these novellas are a MUST READ. ...more
