A family is a small kingdom, a kingdom is a large family. ~ Author unknown
“Sons of Pemberley” is a family saga — the story of generations of the Darcy and Wickham families.
The tale begins during the childhood of George Darcy and Samuel Wickham. A chance meeting results in Samuel saving George from drowning. The boys form a solid friendship that will last their lifetimes, surpassing all distinctions of class and wealth.

As the blurb tells us this story spans about 25 years with the chapter going back and forth between 1769 and the years following that and 1811 and just a year or so after that.
The family and acquaintances of the Darcys is expanded. Early on we meet Samuel Wickham and learn of his close friendship with George Darcy. We also meet two cousins, Rebecca and Rachel, both of whom develop a relationship with Samuel Wickham. As this story evolves Lady Anne and George Darcy are alive and at first they hav ...more

What a wonderful reimagined P&P story where Lady Anne is still around into Darcy’s adulthood.
I really enjoyed this saga and love the relationship between Darcy and his mother. I also like his relationship with his cousin Colonel Fitzwilliam and Marianne.
Surprisingly, this Wickham is redeemable from canon and you also want to root for him.
Having Lady Anne around really drove this story and how she influenced others around her. I loved her influence on Mrs. Bennet and her nerves.

Elizabeth Adams is one of my favorite Pride and Prejudice authors and this imagining does not disappoint.
It is a sweeping tale alternating between Anne and George Darcy early marriage, Fitzwilliam growing up and the Darcy’s visiting Netherfield. The guests are Anne Darcy, Fitzwilliam, his younger siblings Georgiana and Luke plus Fitz’s cousin Marianne with Richard F joining them later.
The regal Lady and is keeping Caroline Bingley in check and she improves much under her guidance.

Most of this book takes place many years before the events of P&P with some major changes in the Darcy family history as well as insights into many Darcy family relatives and friends. This book does not center on any main characters from the original novel. Most of them are there, but with fairly minor roles. This book centers on Lady Anne Darcy and what could have been her life if she had lived longer and how her influence could have altered the lives of those around her. I loved this graceful

Normally not a fan of prequels but the way the old and new is woven together makes it really interesting. I also liked the hints of where the changes might have happened with Lady Anne & Wickham, which felt like a natural fit to the original. There was a lot in this story and consequently quite a few people didn’t feature so much as they might, which is as it should be (no tangents), but I did miss the Gardiners - especially with Mrs G’s back story, which made it feel strange that Elizabeth didn
