This was a really hard book to read! I knew what was going to happen, but that didn’t make it easier to feel less pain when the book reaches the part about her death.
I found the parts about her life and her story to be well researched and presented. However, I didn’t like the repetition of social media’s influence on how she looked at her life. A must-read for parents of teens and young adults, this book is less about running and more about the pressures young people face in a world where appearances count for everything. The author does a great job telling the story of Maddy's struggles and interspersing information about the pressures to succeed and to be the best. Social media plays a big part in all this as well.
