Thanks to NetGalley and The Publisher for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. After my initial confusion as to whether I was reading the correct book or not (this will make sense when you read it) and wondering how it was going to develop, suddenly I was reading a totally different book, which I also wasn't expecting. This book is beautifully written, with so much care and attention to detail it really captures the essence of the era. There are multiple musical and literature references throughout the book and also quite a bit of focus on art, which speaks to the richness of Jesse's world, and the culture he grew up in during these formative years. Jesse is a troubled young man who, through finding true love is able to mature into a fairly balanced individual despite all of the challenges he faced growing up.
