For the first time, I really enjoyed O'Hara's poetry. The name-dropping still irritated me, as did the exchange of letters at the end with Lawrence Ferlinghetti about publication of the book. O'Hara dawdles for 2-3 years, then finally sends Ferlinghetti a loose sheaf of poems and tells him to put them in any order he wants. Oh, but a few are missing-- he can't find them -- but Ferlinghetti can look one up in this journal and another in that journal. Jeez, make an effort, Frank. ...more

A beautiful concept and the perfect size for a book. Frank O'Hara while working at the Musuem of Modern Art in NYC, wrote these poems during his lunch time. Or so goes the legend! Nevertheless O'Hara is a brilliant poet with a great ear for NYC chatter. ...more
