This is the only book by this author that I've read and the reason I read it is because I bought it so I could get it autographed by the author for my friend Jerry in Tulsa. Shout out to Tulsa!!! The author was nice when I told him I hadn't read any of his books but would kindly appreciate if he signed "to Jerry"

Reality is a bitch of a concept. A friend just quoted a line from an old sit-com to me: "It's not a lie if you believe it". That line sums up "The Night Listener" fairly well. Believing what we want to believe may put us at odds with what others perceive as their own truth. Do we accept the pain that may come from their truth or do we wrap ourselves in the blanket of what we prefer to believe? Maupin can only answer for his characters. The reader still has to face that bitch.
