What Members Thought

Lisbeth Salander is the best female heroine of the last ten years. I will put money on that. I cannot find a more well-rounded, fascinating character in modern fiction that comes close to her. In fact, all of the characters in this book are so vivid and fascinating that you can't stop thinking about them when you're not reading these books. This might in fact be the one instance that I can excuse fan fic writing (well, almost), because these characters are as addictive as the best designer drug.

I'm re-reading these books in part becasue I need to read something undemanding & familiar but also becasue I am really trying to understand the massive, global popularity of these books. I like them a lot myself but it is rather amazing to see copies everywhere, even in the homes of some dedicated non-readers.

see the review of 'the girl with the dragon tattoo'-- but keep in mind that i read these in swedish, so i can't say anything about the english translations.

Definitely not as gripping as the first, but still an imperative bridge to the third book in this series. Besides, I could read Salander's adventures (and misadventures?) all day.
