Diego is a good kid. He studies hard, he takes care of his little brother, Eddie, and most of the time he minds his mom. Diego gets in trouble when he punches a gay classmate after he looks at him funny and winds up on probation.

Distrustful of his probation officer at first, Diego eventually opens up and reveals painful details about his past. Vidas is patient and understanding, and after a few sessions, he learns that there are very serious issues hiding under Diego’s

Bait was more of a 4.5 stars. The book revolves around a young man named Diego, who lands himself in hot water with the law when he punches a boy in the face. Diego has always had temper problems but takes it too far when he punches Fabio just because he was giving him weird looks (wow, name the gay kid Fabio? Really? Anyway...) At first Diego would do anything to get out of probation, but then he meets Mr. Vidas, his PO. Mr. Vidas turns out to be a very understanding man and Diego realizes that ...more

Though Diego is plagued by his demons, he desperately wants to find relief from it all so he can move on with his life.

It's a dream that you root for him to achieve and he's honestly a likeable character. He says and does the wrong things sometimes (though we all do) and that leads him into trouble, but he wants to be a better guy. He really is a good person. His anger just gets the best of him and he can't properly control it. Through all of that, t

Another great read by Alex Sanchez!

Normally I read just at night or on by breaks at work, but I found myself putting aside my laptop to read more of this. Which didn't last long because it is a very quick read, despite being 240-ish pages.

I enjoyed the characters, though I would have preferred to not have Vidas' 'secret' revealed in the chapter that we first meet him. I would have loved to have found out with Diego. Because I knew about it, I was braced for the whole book, just waiting for Dieg

Please see those stars as 3 and a 1/2.

After Diego punches a kid at his school for looking at him funny, he starts talking to Parole Officer Vidas. He tells Vidas things he’s never told anyone, and so he asks for probation so he can go one talking.

Well- worth reading.

I really liked this book, especially it's dark themes and heavy subject matter. It really helped me with my own past. However, I would have liked to see more character developement and character description. Great LGBT novel, none the less. ...more

This was absolutely heart breaking. I cried a lot at Diego's anger and just his story. Sanchez did a service to all get abuse victims I think, by showing how much Diego struggled to get pass his history. It was really sad though. ...more
