Everyone should read this memoir. Anthony Bourdain lived an interesting life, had a long and varied career, and has learned a lot -- and, true to form, he's not shy about sharing his opinion. This was a hysterical romp through the underbelly of the New York restaurant scene of the last 20 years. Bourdain's voice is entertaining, chaotic and fun...although I can't imagine working in one of his kitchens. His rant about vegetarians and their "Hezbollah-like splinter group, the vegans" had me laughing out loud.
I'm glad I borrowed from the library, as it's not a book I'm likely to refer back to again for tips or tricks, but I enjoyed the brief time it took to whip through the book. ...more
