Great interweaving of the stories of the Chicago World's Fair, H.H. Holmes, and the assassination of Chicago's mayor. Maybe a bit too much authorial assumption in terms of internal monologues, but it made the story flow well.

Finally. This would have better without the creepy serial killer sections. The World's Fair stuff was good-to-okay (why I gave it 2 stars) but the "real crime" stuff was just bleh. I know a lot of people liked this but I hate-read after about halfway through.
