This book had almost everything in it that I like in a book, and then a mystery to solve on top of it all. The book isn't perfect and probably not "great literature" but it was fun and kept me reading it near-continuously until the end, so I'm giving it 5 stars anyway. It took place inside a natural history museum and was chock full of science, scientists, history, ancient curses, curators...and the descriptions of the artifacts and exhibits almost made me believe I was there. This story was awfully familiar until I realised it's the source material for the mid-90's B-Movie The Relic starring Vincent D'Onofrio. The book didn't hold a lot of surprises for me after that. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable enough page turner. Hopefully the second book will hold more surprises.
