I watched the TV show first, and found it engaging. Each character is given increasing amounts of context over the course of two seasons, which is fascinating, given that they all are interacting at this prison. Moments of absurdity (the Season 2 Finale comes to mind), are balanced by these women and men with complex back stories, motivations, and choices.
