What Members Thought

08/05/2022: Reread on audiobook!
This year I have been going back to reread some of my favorite popular young adult series from "back in the day". I honestly thought that my feelings may have changed since my reading tastes are broader than they used to be. I am glad to say that I was just as enamored with this book this time around as I was the first time that I read it.

What an amazing story! This one, for me, was 100x better than book 1. Cinder is okay, but Scarlet is straight up kickbutt. She doesn't have a problem getting in the middle and getting done what needs to be done.
This girl. I look forward to reading more about her and Wolf. ha! I love him a lot too! ...more

I started this series in 2016 and I never actually continued reading it because I found challenges on Goodreads and couldn't get the rest of the books to fit. I'm finally going to finish this series if it kills me to do it. I loved Cinder but I loved Scarlet so much more. I love Thorne and Wolf and of course Iko is still one of my favorites. I love when books have these cooky side characters that are pets or AI's or anything like Iko. I can't wait to continue on in this series fina ...more

I loved this book I didn't think it could be better than Cinder. So much action and threads coming together showing a bigger picture of what's happening. Cinder is my favorite character it's great seeing her figure things out. To see her trying to do the right thing and deal with hard choices. Scarlet and Wolf were great additions to the series I liked their chemistry. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Scarlet is a great follow up to Cinder. I liked the way the wolves were woven into the story. Not sure exactly why they are needed if the Lunars have mind control, but lets not over analyze it. I can't wait to read book three.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! What people say is true. It is true that this series gets better each book. I enjoy Cinder, I really enjoy it. But Scarlet! Stars, I'm in love with it. I love how Marissa Meyer made Scarlet to be this determined and stubborn yet strong girl. I love how there's a continuation of Cinder's story. I love how Cinder become more brilliant with her decision making even though sometimes I questioned it. I love how Marissa Meyer slowly but surely made the story between Cinder and Scarle

This is the sequel to Cinder. The Lunar Chronicles are dystopia retellings of classic fairy tales. 16 year-old Cinder is the cyborg Cinderella who loses her foot when she falls down the stairs at the ball. Scarlet is Red Riding Hood. Cress is Rapunzel. Winter is Snow White. Then there is the evil queen who lives on the moon.
18 year-old Scarlet is searching for her grandmother who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Red-headed Scarlet wears a red hoodie and meets a street fighter named Wo ...more

It is so crazy how much these books are like the original fairytale, but at the same time not. I love that while I am reading I can identify pieces of the original.
Scarlet't grandmother is missing and she is on a mission to find her. Along the way she meets Wolf, who eventually agrees to help her. Except things are not exactly as they seem.
Why did the people who has her grandmother take her in the first place? This is the question that lead Scarlet to some truths about the person she loves mos ...more

I really hate when I have to put a book down for so long... It really pulls me out of the world of the book, which makes it less enjoyable. Still, Scarlet was a great book- set aside a time where you won't be disturbed.
2/8/14- This past week I listened to the audiobook again in preparation for Cress. It was so much more enjoyable the second time around! Re-rating to five stars! ...more
