2.5 stars. This book was not what I had been expecting. In some ways that was good and some bad. I thought it was going to be more about Nick and Rachel and his family interacting, and in reality they hardly interact at all. It’s a lot more about the rich lifestyles of all these characters and the catty superficial natures of most of them. This book was wonderful. It showed me a different culture, that of the "crazy rich Asians." I have no idea whether it is an accurate portrayal or not, but it was an enjoyable read.

Rachel is dating Nick. Rachel goes home with Nick to Singapore for the summer for his best friend's wedding. While in Singapore Rachel comes face to face with Nick's upbringing, one of lavish, one of wealth. Not everyone is happy about it. ...more

It was pretty good. It’s not the right book for me though. I could care less about fashion and all that stuff. I think the author put way too many details about all that stuff in. But some people do enjoy that, so that’s understandable. It was like reading a soap opera. Some of it was funny, some if it made you want to scream. Great characters, both the good ones and the bad. Not sure if I’ll read the rest in the series yet, maybe.

This book and the accompanying film has an incredible amount of media hype but it is fair to say I found it disappointing. It is very character drive with almost no narrative to talk off. The characters are universally unlikeable. I struggled to plough through it and cannot imagine reading the rest in the series
