I've been reading a lot of King Arthur retellings this year, it's strange yet comforting. I love seeing the ways the tale was twisted. Granted, I haven't really read the original King Arthur tales, so I'm just going off my vague knowledge, but I absolutely loved this story.

I adored this!
I've always been a fan of Authrian legends - there's just something so lovely about Camelot and then the darkness that surrounds Excalibur. So when I heard one of my favorite authors was writing her own version of events - and from Guinevere's point of view no less - well, let's just say I preordered that bugger faster than you can say 'gimme'!
I also loved the magical world that existed here. We all know Merlin is a magician, so having magic wasn't an unknown concept. But White to ...more

I decided to reread this before reading The Camelot Betrayal and I'm glad that I did. I had forgotten so many little details that I think are going to be important in the sequel. And it was also nice to know that I still really enjoyed it.
White does retellings spectacularly. And it's mostly because she doesn't just retell the same story we all know, she always adds some interesting twist. This is what keeps me interested and excited to continue reading. We all know the story of King Arthur and ...more

I absolutely love this retelling of King Arthur. The magic, the courtly politics, the deception and the betrayal all have me on the edge of my seat, even as a reread. I love all the characters and even though this is a retelling, I still don't know what's coming! I love it.

Kiersten White’s ‘And I Darken’ trilogy is one of my favorites so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. I really love her writing and this story kept me turning the pages once I got into it, though I didn’t quite live it. I like the characters in the story, so many of them are strong and started to get developed in this first book, which makes me care about what happens to them.
