I gotta say, I was a little disappointed in this one. While I really enjoyed it, it almost seemed like a book from a different series than the previous two. So while I liked it, I also had issues with it. Does that make sense?
Okay, let's recap - The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King were these books full of intrigue, and gasps, and betrayals, and me biting my nails because I never knew what was coming and was surprised by everything. Black held nothing back in those two books and I lo ...more

3rd read and I love every second of it. Something that I haven't talked about before is how much I love the supporting cast in this trilogy! Not Taryn and Locke, because gross, but so many of the other characters are wonderful! I think it's amazing that they are so unique and feel so fleshed out even though this story focuses so heavily on Jude and Cardan that others don't really get much page time. Some of my favorites: Grima Mog, Nicasia, Madoc, The Bomb, The Roach.

Jude is my favorite character by far, which is not to say there aren’t a ton of great well developed characters in this series, because there are. I’m also pretty attached to Madoc in all his complexity (view spoiler) ...more

I enjoyed this book. I think it was a fitting ending to the overall story of the series. I liked the way it ended. However, I do have some issues with the book. For one, it once again was a little predictable. I knew how things were going to turn out as soon as certain pieces of information were revealed. Also there wasn't as much between Jude and Cardan as the internet made me believe. Since there wasn't a lot in the previous book, I was expecting this book to have a lot more scenes that showed
