An utterly charming and magical read!

“Change often starts with the smallest of whispers. Like-minded people building it up to a roar.”
I get the hype around this one - I do. Cute, quirky and adorable.
I blame poor timing for my failing to connect with the characters and our main character who is investigating the life of these kids. There were some parts I chuckled at and some touching phrases - but the message was heavy handed and sometimes it irritated me it was so spelled out and screamed at me. I just read what I wrote the first time I read this back in 2020 and I loved it then but I have to say I think I loved it even more the second time around. Maybe because I knew what each of the kids were. Like Lucy being the son of the devil and Sal is a shifter and Taila a gnome as well as the rest of the kids of the orphanage. I loved Arthur so much and Zoe and of course Linus and Hellen. This book is so endearing and touching. It was one of my favorite books of all time and i ...more

Oh my heart, this book is such a delight ! It has such an amazing flow to it, and all the characters are so well-written. I can't decide which child is my favourite (all of them). So much beautiful imagery, so many quotable quotes !! It's my favourite book of the year, and I will be recommending this to everyone I can. So inclusive, anti-bullying, and just kind-hearted. <3

I loved the children they were by far my favorite part. Chauncey and Thalia especially, I enjoyed every single part with them, but I truly loved all the magical children and their eccentricities. Linus was an excellent perspective to be reading from and learning with, and Arthur wise good in concept and his care for the childre
