Blue Lily, Lily Blue felt like a whimsical dream where things have suddenly turned dangerous and uncertain. While Ronan learned about his ability to brings things out of his dreams in The Dream Thieves, now he and Adam must used their combined powers of Cabeswater and the Greywarren to protect their friends. Mr. Grey has told his employer to fuck off and so Greenmantle has taken it upon himself to come to Henrietta.

There is no doubt in my mind that this book has certainly taken a darker turn for our Raven Boys and Blue. I loved how we had to see Blue's family fill in for the hole that was Maura. Seeing Blue and Mr. Grey grow closer was so heart endearing as well. They're just so fricking cute in like a father-daughter way. ALSO, I NEED TO SCREAM MY LOVE FOR CALLA. Even if she's a psychic, Calla is a serrated knife. Cross her the wrong way and you'll be cut deeply. I love her wit, dash of cynicism and how she calls Gansey every name that is not his.

"The scent of Cabeswater, all trees after rain, drifted past Adam, and he realized that while he'd been looking at Ronan, Ronan had been looking at him."

This book also like actually killed my heart. Not only are the BLUESEY feelings real, but the PYNCH vibes are just here to give me cardiac arrest. They're so subtly woven into the story that if you after paying attention, you could miss it like I definitely did the first time I read this. I have no idea how Maggie did it, but the way I pine and care for these characters is so all encompassing and I JUST LOVE THEM.

"There was something unfamiliar about him. Something ferocious about his eyes, some sort of bite in his faint smile. Something altogether hectic and unsettled. She stood on the ledge of his smile and looked over the edge."

I was worried that the hunt for Glendower was going to be solved in this one, but Maggie knows her shit. She knows how to give and take. How to make you think the story is going one way but all the sudden you've done a U-turn and you haven't realized it. There is something so freaking amazing about this story of five people in love with each other, ley lines, psychics, hit men and the search for a sleeping Welsh King.

P.P.P.P.S. Don't wake the third sleeper.

Stiefvater has done it again. She has managed to continue this beautiful yet haunting story about friendship and wishes at the same caliber as the previous installments. I honestly don't know how she does it. I've read this book only once before, right after it came out back in 2014, so I obviously had forgotten some of details. As with any reread of a beloved book, I found myself wondering if it would hold up and it 100% did. Unlike the first two whic ...more

Another Maggie Stiefvater book leaving me wanting more more more. I breezed through this book in record time. I couldn't get enough. Another Maggie Stiefvater book leaving me wanting more more more. I breezed through this book in record time. I couldn't get enough. I desperately wanted to know what was going to happen next and what was holding all the pieces of this story together. I think that is what I like best about Stiefvater's writing. There are strange happenings and dialogue sprinkled throughout her books that make zero sense until their importance is revealed. And they are so strange and out of place that you HAVE to know what the frack is going on. It makes you devour her stories. And I also love how preposterous some of the happenings are. I mean, if my mom fell in love with a hit man and no one that I knew thought anything of it? That's not really the norm. And I love this series all the more for it. It shatters my expectations on so many levels.

This brings me to the plot. I love the way that there are so many mysteries embedded into the plot. As mentioned above, there can be so much going on that you don't know about, but you know the general direction the story is taking. If there is anything that disappoints me more in a book, it is a predictable plot. Stiefvater's books never suffer from this. Her books, this one included, are packed with little twists and turns. Her books are definitely a journey and not a destination, which is really what all fantasy readers strive for when reading a book. (I think, anyway. At least, I do.) I think that the concept behind the plot of this series is one of a kind. I haven't read anything that compares in the slightest. Not only is the premise unique, but the storytelling is unparalleled.

The character growth is spectacular. I loved seeing the characters become closer and watching them through their struggles. They are already so different from the characters in the first book of this series. I can't wait to see how much more they grow in the final book. I love these characters so much! They give me all the feels. Their chemistry is one of the best things about this series, for me. The universe is pushing them all together, and I am perpetually on the edge of my seat doing all that I can to please the gods in order to get the outcome that I want most. Again, the feels. Even the side characters mesh into all this feely nonsense. I adore them all!

The books in this series stay with you long after you've finished the last pages. They really do imprint on your heart, which says so much about Stiefvater's magical storytelling. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, this series, and her writing as a whole. I will immediately be starting The Raven King, the last book in this series. And after that, I can't wait to read Stiefvater's backlog. When it comes to the hype about her books, listen. Her books really are magical.

amazing. Just when I think Maggie Stiefvater can't possibly wow me more than before. Just when I think....oh no, another 3rd book in a 4 book series....

she just BLOWS me away. Her books are never fillers. Each one has new secrets and new reveals.

and that moment in the car, the PRETEND moment. My Goodness....NONE of us will forget that one anytime soon.

This book was just really super great!! I think I liked it more than the first two.

Characters are developing, plot things are happening -- I just really love when everything comes together. It's like, in this series everything always feels like its moving forward. I really love that because it doesn't happen often in books. These books aren't really fast paced, but they are just always steadily moving ahead and I really think that works for them.

Blue continues to be a great character. I like Adam again. Noah and Ronan are just great in this book. Gansey, I feel still is the weakest character, but he's getting stronger.

I love how the group of friends has grown together and Blue has seamlessly merged with their group. Their codependency and uber friendship I just really appreciate and relate to.

I also like the whole going back to school setting of things. The uncertainty of the future and time is running out feeling of senior year is a perfect setting and feeling for this book.

I continue to really like the Grey Man and I like his part in this book.

The addition of Colin and Piper Greenmantle or whatever is really fun. I love it when antagonists are added to the pov rotation and that is something this series does very well.

That ending tho! Things are going to get crazy up in the 4th book. I really liked the conclusion and things were resolved but with more questions left to answer. I think things are going to be pretty tense at 300 Fox Way. But that Cliffhanger ending though. Oh my gosh. I'm just so excited for Book 4.

What didn't I like about this book? I know there was something, because I remember thinking I would rate this 4.5. I don't remember though. I'll come back and edit this if I remember. It's one of those weird situations where you see flaws while you're reading, but none when you're done. Usually the opposite happens for me.

Maybe just Gansey's weaker characterizations? Gansey and Blue seem to have less chemistry in this book, but they are trying to not be together, so that's understandable.

Anyway, I love this series and this book especially. we're just getting better and better so i can't wait for the next book! ...more
